My Black Belt and my injury...

In November after four years of training I tested for my black belt in Dae Han Moo Do. Often I will simply say that I do Tae Kwon Do because people have heard of that but I actually do not have a Tae Kwon Do black belt. My instructor is Third Generation Hap Ki Do which is similar to AiKiDo. Master Waldron has also studied Tae Kwon Do. From how I understand the New Martial Art of Dae Han Moo Do is that most martial arts are not very practical in their pure form and Dae Han Moo Do is being formed by my Master and his Master, Grand Master Hwang, it is (to quote the website) "a traditional martial art based on the mighty combinations of Taekwondo, Hapkido and Judo."
So back to my test. After 8 hours of testing (it was a great time) I was rather pumped up and ready for more. I felt great and like I had accomplished something!
Here are a few pictures of my test and the promotion ceremony.

We started with a warm up and holding side thrust kicks out steady, repeatedly...
We did forms. This was Tae Guk Ee Jang but we were supposed to do it in unison facing in different directions.
I flew over people. One of them is a student that I teach science to. We spared and did self defense. I was being attacked here and the guy behind me was waiting to jump me when I wasn't expecting it.
This is me flying through the air to do a hoping ax kick. I broke 20 boards in this sequence.
The is Colin Mead and I after the test. He is a great motivator, excellent martial artist and really good guy.
These are some of the black belts from the school after our promotion ceremony.
Now to move on to the part I like least. After 4 years of training and working hard to earn my black belt. I continued working hard but developed a pain in my left leg that was just getting worse and worse with time. Visiting my chiropractor and taking his advice and the advice of a few people at the Martial Art School I took a break and learned that it was not helping and was later diagnosed with a compressed disc in my lower back. I am now working on recovery and hope that I can get back to training and hopefully get my second degree black belt before I am 35. Oh yeah and I turned 30 this past month.
Now I have joined a fitness club (which I hate doing) but they have a nice pool where I swim and they have Yoga Classes. Both of these are helping but the recovery is slower than I want it to be. So with that said I will end with this
Namaste...
